One of the most rewarding parts of coaching is watching players put in the work and eventually see that work recognized.
This week, six members of the Vaughan Vikings HPP program earned exactly that opportunity.
Congratulations to Matthew Di Pietro, Matteo Marano, Alex Holmes, Lukas Sutterfield, Marciano Scarfo, and Jonah Chivers on being selected to the 16U YSBA All-Star Team that will represent the league at the 2026 Ontario Summer Games in Waterloo from July 30th to August 2nd.
The achievement becomes even more impressive when you consider the level of competition involved. More than 55 players attended the tryouts, all competing for just 16 roster spots. The talent on the field was outstanding, which made the selection process incredibly difficult. Earning a place on this roster was not something given. It was something earned.
What makes this accomplishment special is that it reflects the countless hours these players have invested behind the scenes. The practices, training sessions, games, travel, and commitment to improvement all played a role in helping them reach this moment.
At the same time, this is only the beginning.
Being selected is an achievement worth celebrating, but it also creates new opportunities and new challenges. The Ontario Summer Games will bring together some of the top players from across the province and provide an excellent opportunity for these athletes to continue developing while representing both the YSBA and Vaughan Vikings HPP.
We are incredibly proud of all six players and excited to watch them compete on one of Ontario's biggest stages.
