COACH Q BASEBALL
Improve Your Skills, Increase Your Confidence
My Tenure at West Toronto Baseball (2010–2018)
From 2010 to 2018, I had the privilege of serving as Head Coach and Director of Player Development with West Toronto Baseball, a program committed to both elite competition and long-term athlete growth.
Founded in 2007 through a Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) initiative, West Toronto aimed to bring high-level 'AAA' baseball to players aged 13 to 18. It quickly grew into one of the region’s premier development programs, and I’m proud to have played a part in that evolution.

Player Development with Purpose
At West Toronto, we believed in more than just winning. Our goal was to develop complete players through:
-
Structured, high-quality on-field practices
-
Year-round access to indoor training facilities
-
Competitive league and tournament play
-
A focus on fundamentals, athleticism, and mental toughness
During my time with the program, I had the opportunity to mentor over 50 players who went on to play college baseball in Canada and the United States. Many of these athletes earned scholarships, leadership roles and academic honors.
Competitive Success & MLB Draft Picks
West Toronto teams thrived under pressure and consistently rose to the occasion:
-
Multiple TBA Championships across several age groups
-
2012 18U OBA Champions
-
OBA Elimination Finalist appearances in 2013 and 2015
-
3 players drafted by Major League Baseball teams during my tenure:
-
Daniel Procopio, drafted by the New York Mets, 22nd round (2013)
-
Austin Swift, drafted by the Oakland Athletics, 35th round (2014)
-
Trevor Brigden, drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays, 17th round (2019)
-
These achievements reflected not just talent, but the discipline and preparation that defined our culture.
A Program That Made a Difference
What made West Toronto unique was its alignment between development, mentorship and culture. Players didn't just improve, they learned how to lead, how to fail forward and how to show up every day ready to compete.
I’m grateful for the many dedicated coaches, families and volunteers who helped build something meaningful. Together, we fostered an environment where athletes could grow and where dreams were nurtured.
To every player who wore the West Toronto jersey, thank you. Your effort and your belief in the process made these years unforgettable.
