As the 2023 baseball season approaches, Baseball Canada has unveiled the roster of 31 athletes who have been selected to attend the Junior National Team's Spring Training Camp. Among these athletes are six players who previously represented Ontario in the 2022 Ontario Youth Team. We would like to extend our congratulations to Brendan Lawson, Brodie Peart, Brayden Ricketts, Owen Slater, Jorge Valdes, and Calvin Warrillow for being invited to attend the camp.
The Junior National Team's Spring Training Camp will take place from April 19-29 in West Palm Beach, Florida at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, where players will have access to the same facilities used by the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals during their spring training and player development programs. The camp will feature daily workouts, inter-squad games, and six contests against prospect squads from the Astros and Nationals organizations in West Palm Beach, as well as games against teams from the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays organizations in Bradenton and Sarasota.
The invitation to attend the Junior National Team's Spring Training Camp is a significant achievement for these six players from Ontario. It is a testament to their talent and dedication to the sport, as well as the quality of coaching and support they have received from their local teams and organizations. It is also a recognition of the strength and competitiveness of Ontario's youth baseball programs.
We wish Brendan, Brodie, Brayden, Owen, Jorge, and Calvin the best of luck at the Junior National Team's Spring Training Camp. We are confident that they will represent Ontario with pride and determination, and we look forward to following their progress and successes in the years to come.
