Alumni Selected to Represent in 2024 IBL All-Star Game

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), Canada's premier independent baseball league, is set to celebrate its 106th season in 2024.

With a rich history and a legacy of fostering talent, the IBL continues to be a cornerstone for aspiring baseball professionals. The league features former MLB, MiLB, and elite NCAA college players, including athletes from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Panama, and Japan. With teams from Barrie, Brantford, Chatham-Kent, Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Toronto, and Welland, the IBL offers a competitive and dynamic environment for players to hone their skills.

One of the highlights each year is the selection of the IBL All-Star team. This year, the game will be held July 20, 2024 at Welland Stadium in Niagara Falls. I am proud to announce four exceptional players who I have had the privilege of coaching over the years. It's been incredible to watch their growth as they pursue the game at such a competitive level.

Second Base: Brando Leroux, GUELPH ROYALS: Brando Leroux has had an impressive journey, starting with the Markham Mariners and Vaughan Vikings before joining the Canadian junior national team. Currently, he is showcasing his talents at Florida Atlantic University.

Outfield: Noel McGarry-Doyle, BARRIE BAYCATS: A gold medalist with Team Ontario at the 2018 Canada Cup, Noel McGarry-Doyle is currently playing for Mid-America Christian University. His dedication and skill make him a standout player in the outfield.

Outfield: Dennis Dei Baning, HAMILTON CARDINALS: Dennis Dei Baning's baseball journey includes playing for West Toronto and being featured at the 2014 Power Showcase in Miami, Florida. He attended Erie Community College and Humber College, where he was named Player of the Year in 2021 and Baseball MVP in 2022.

Outfield: Gianfranco Morello, WELLAND JACKFISH: Gianfranco Morello represented Team Toronto at the 2010 Ontario Summer Games and went on to play for the University of Charleston Athletics from 2016 to 2019. His dedication and performance have been exemplary throughout his career.

It's truly inspiring to see these young athletes grow and excel in the game we all love. Watching their progress and knowing I've had a part in their development is incredibly rewarding.
