I’m thrilled to share the incredible news that Aiden Taggart has signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent, securing a $155,000 deal. Hailing from Grimsby, Ontario and standing tall at 6’4” and 210 lbs., Aiden has shown throughout his young career the kind of dedication and work ethic that sets him apart.
I had the privilege of coaching Aiden during the 2022 Canada Summer Games as an underaged player with Team Ontario. Even back then, his motivation and drive were impossible to miss. I vividly remember him showing up to a tryout at 6 am, a full two hours before the scheduled 8 am start, just to get in extra work. It’s that kind of commitment and love for the game that has propelled him forward.
Over the past few years, Aiden has consistently impressed on the mound. From his time with the Field House Pirates to his performances with the Junior National Team and the Ontario Youth Team, he’s honed his craft with a mix of raw talent and relentless improvement. His standout moment came in 2023 with the Ontario Youth Team in Regina, where he closed out a high-pressure comeback win over BC, securing the save and igniting a dogpile celebration that perfectly captured the spirit of the team.
Aiden’s accolades speak for themselves: a Rawlings/Perfect Game All American All Region First Team selection in both 2024 and 2025, and impressive performances at the Canadian Futures Showcase and Dominican Pro Tour with the Junior National Team. His ability to command the mound, combined with his maturity and work ethic, make him a pitcher to watch as he embarks on his professional career.
Congratulations, Aiden, on this well-deserved achievement. It’s been an honor to witness your journey and play a small part in your development. The Blue Jays are gaining not just a talented pitcher, but a dedicated and driven young man who embodies the very best of what it means to be a ballplayer. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you in the big leagues!
