Player Profile: Ryan Grippo

As West Toronto Baseball celebrates its 10th season, we could not go without celebrating one of our alumni.

When Ryan Grippo graduates from DePauw University, he will be armed with a degree for life after baseball.

Ryan Grippo aka "Grips" grew up in the High Park area of Toronto, enjoyed baseball and football most of his childhood. He was an honor roll student, made numerous all-star teams and by the age of 13, was already considered one of the best middle infielders in the city. Ryan's real love was baseball and it showed, with his unmatched work ethic and knowledge for the game. The ultimate "Team Guy", just wanted to win and be a part of something special. Ryan got that taste in 2012, being the starting second baseman for the AAA Ontario Baseball Provincial Champions, the first in West Toronto history. (Watch the final out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-aJ9l5Sp74) Being highly recruited out of high school, Ryan signed a letter of intent to DePauw University in Indiana. Over those 4 years (2013 - 2017) Ryan managed to put up some big numbers. The Lou Gehrig of DePauw baseball, it's no surprise that he played in every game, in all 4 years, he always kept in shape. He is 3rd all-time for at-bats in school history. In 2017, he helped the Tigers win the most games in team history. Academically, he maintained an 85 average with a double major, Economics and Communications.

Congratulations Ryan on your graduation and we wish you continued success.
