Four Ontario Youth Team alumni have been selected to participate in MLB's exciting Spring Breakout event, a new showcase for the emerging talent of Minor League Baseball. Among the distinguished alumni set to feature in the event are Tyler Black (Milwaukee Brewers), Mitch Bratt (Texas Rangers), Calvin Ziegler (New York Mets) and Owen Cassie (Chicago Cubs).
In 2019, Mitch Bratt, Calvin Ziegler and Owen Cassie formed part of the Ontario Youth Team, securing the Silver Medal at the Canada Cup Tournament. Tyler Black, on the other hand, contributed to the team's performance in 2016, where they achieved a 6th place finish at the Canada Cup.
MLB's Spring Breakout, scheduled to run from March 14 to 17, 2024, will take place at Grapefruit and Cactus league stadiums during Spring Training. This four-day event will feature a total of 16 exhibition games that will see teams composed of the top prospects from each MLB organization competing against each other. It serves as a unique opportunity to witness the future stars of baseball in action and celebrate the burgeoning talent in the sport.
The inaugural edition of MLB Spring Breakout aims to provide a new touchpoint on the baseball calendar, offering fans and enthusiasts a platform to appreciate and support the promising young players making their mark in the Minor Leagues.
