2020 Vaughan Vikings 16U

August 26, 2019

I am honored and excited to announce that I will be joining the Vaughan Vikings Baseball Association for the 2020 season, as the head coach of the 16U team. The Vikings have a storied history, with progressive thinking, that has put them at the forefront of Elite Baseball in Ontario. Looking back at my tenure with West Toronto Baseball I can’t help but think of all the players and coaches that have influenced me. When I started out on this coaching journey, I did not expect anything, as I got involved because of one of my mentors, coach Zak. (Read more about coach Zak) I spent the 2008-2009 seasons as an assistant coach with the York pioneers and we went on to win back to back "Single A" Toronto Baseball Championships and earning spots at the Ontario Provincial Tournament. Coach Zak helped me understand the purpose of coaching, which is to provide a positive environment, that will help athletes play the game they love.

After the 2009 season, I was contacted by Jim Cary-Hill who was an executive for West Toronto Baseball AAA program. West Toronto is a AAA program and an affiliate to York Baseball, High Park and Toronto Playgrounds and I had known Jim since the age of 16, when his son and I played on the same summer team. My first year with WT, I started out as the Director of Player Development and head coach for the 12U peewee team. It was my first time with younger players and to this day, was one of the most fun I've had as a coach. From 2011-2019 I bounced from the 16u to the 18U level.

There were many memories and accomplishments along the way, but nothing better than watching players grow, fulfilling their dreams and building relationships that last forever.
